Hikaru conoce a los alienígenas Lala, Prunce y Fuwa mientras observa el cielo nocturno. Se entera del "Palacio de las Estrellas", donde las 12 Princesas Estelares de las constelaciones mantenían el equilibrio del universo hasta que fueron atacadas. Lala busca a los legendarios guerreros Precure para que le ayuden a encontrar los 12 "bolígrafos de colores de las princesas" dispersos y a revivir a las princesas. Cuando Fuwa es capturada por un enemigo, Hikaru desea salvar a Fuwa, y aparece un Colgante de Color Estrella y una Pluma de Color Estrella que le permiten transformarse en Cure Star. A partir de entonces, trabaja para recoger las plumas y criar a Fuwa, que es la clave para revivir a las princesas.
